These custom Porsche RECARO seats were built for a 964 with one goal in mind: to enhance the driving experience while retaining the soul of a classic Porsche interior. Trimmed in a combination of black tweed and Pepita fabric, and finished with white painted shells to match the car’s exterior, this project blended subtle detailing with standout craftsmanship.

What is Pepita Fabric?

Pepita is a distinctive houndstooth-style fabric that became iconic in early Porsche interiors particularly throughout the 1960s and 70s. Recognised for its timeless black-and-white check pattern, Pepita has seen a revival in modern Porsche design thanks to its retro appeal and motorsport heritage.

Fabric Choices: Black Tweed and Off-Centre Pepita

 

Instead of going full leather or Alcantara, the client wanted something that nodded to Porsche’s past while still feeling unique. We used a black automotive tweed for the bolsters and main surround chosen for its classic texture, durability, and understated appearance.

To bring in something bold but still era-correct, we ran a strip of Pepita fabric off-centre down the seat cushions. This detail draws the eye without overwhelming the interior, offering a modern take on an iconic Porsche material.

The Pepita wasn’t centered on purpose the offset was intentional, adding a bit of asymmetry that feels fresh and bespoke.
