Alcantara retrim wins ‘Best interior’

Early Edition was held on sunday the 16th of April this year, and we’ve been building a car with Reflex Autodesign to reveal at the show. The car was a Volkswagen MK5 Golf which had extensive body work and interior work done before. But the new owner wanted  a full Alcantara retrim.

The car was painted a completely different colour, and the car interior had a complete retrim from Leather/Alcantara to full Alcantara.

Every single panel in the car was retrimmed in dark grey Alcantara with a contrasting red stitch, from the dash to the kick panels in the footwells.

The car originally had Porsche seats, but as the owner wanted something different and he sourced a set of Lamborghini Murciélago

seats and these were also trimmed in full Alcantara. The headrests were embossed with the original Lamborghini logo to keep things all in check.

Originally the car didn’t have a boot build of any kind, it just housed the tank and compressors and a custom spare BBS wheel. Together with Reflex Auto design we built a raised floor to hide the compressors, only revealing the custom BBS wheel and air tank. We then added an extra panel and trimmed this in diamond stitching to match the front seats and give the floor more depth.

We felt the need to break the Alcantara up slightly, and with this in mind came the red leather strips across the dash and door cards, and we also trimmed the sun visors in the red leather. A subtle mod that made a huge difference in the overall interior.

When the trophies were announced we were over the moon with the result of ‘runner up best of show’ and ‘best interior’ This is a huge achievement for use here at Edge Automotive and we’re so happy with the results. This car will be at all major shows this year so make sure you have a good look around it. We are really happy with how this car interior retrim turned out and the attention it received.
