Laser-Cut Automotive Upholstery

Innovative laser-cut upholstery designs blending Dinamica and leather for eye-catching, fully custom seats with endless creative possibilities.

A New Approach to Bespoke Seat Design

The automotive upholstery world is full of quilted designs, diamonds, hexagons, honeycombs and variations on the same themes. There’s nothing wrong with them, but for a long time I’ve wanted to push beyond what everyone else is offering. My aim has always been to innovate, experiment and give customers something that genuinely feels bespoke rather than the same pattern applied in a different colour.

When it comes to bespoke interiors, one of the biggest challenges is striking the right balance between subtlety and impact. A bright accent colour can easily overpower a design, especially inside a refined cockpit. That challenge led me to explore a new method for integrating colour into upholstery in a more controlled, stylish way.

This page introduces a technique I’ve recently used that I’ve personally never seen applied to automotive seating before: laser-cut automotive upholstery, where the material is precision-cut and backed with coloured leather. The results open up an entirely new world of customisation possibilities.

NEW TECHNIQUE.
NEW possibilities.

What Is Laser-Cut Automotive Upholstery?

Instead of stitching or overlaying accent fabrics on top of a seat, this method uses precision laser cutting to create a clean, repeatable pattern directly into the surface material.

Once the pattern is cut, it’s backed with a contrasting leather, allowing the colour to show through the design. This gives you the freedom to use bold colours without overwhelming the seat, as the accent becomes part of the material rather than sitting on top of it.

The effect is clean, modern and incredibly customisable.

  • These seats were trimmed in:
  • Black Dinamica
  • Black leather
  • Acid green leather backing
  • Custom laser-cut halftone-inspired pattern
  • Subtle green detailing without overpowering the interior

This combination keeps the OEM+ look while introducing a technique normally seen in product design, fashion and digital art — now applied to automotive upholstery with precision.

Available Now for Custom Projects

If you’re interested in a custom laser-cut automotive upholstery project, including seats, doorcards or panels, I’d love to hear your ideas. Every design is tailored to the vehicle, the interior theme and the customer’s vision.

I’m genuinely excited by the possibilities this opens up. With laser-cut patterns and coloured backings, the options for customisation are almost endless—subtle gradients, bold graphics, unique textures, and designs that simply aren’t achievable with traditional quilting.

I’m not claiming to be the first person to ever attempt this method, but it is the first time I’ve seen it used in this way, and I’m proud to bring a fresh option to the market. For customers wanting something original, personal and outside the usual quilted look, this technique creates a whole new direction for bespoke interiors.
